Rosario J. Carabello, 77

HAVERHILL — Rosario J. "Ray" Carabello, 77, of Haverhill, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.

Ray was born in Lawrence and attended Lawrence schools. He graduated from Lawrence High School, and received the fire service degree from Northern Essex Community College.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He worked for the fire department of the city of Lawrence for many years, and retired as a lieutenant on the Arson Squad. He was a member of the Relief Inn, Mass Retiree Association, IAFE Local 146, and the Mutual Relief Association

Mr. Carabello was the widower of Jeannette (Larochelle) Carabello, and is survived by daughters Kathi J. Turner of Seabrook, N.H., and Christine Carabello of Amesbury; son David Carabello of Lawrence; sisters Angie Caruso and Josephine Collopy, both of Lawrence, and Ann Verbicky of York, Maine; one grandchildren, Chad Hackett of Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Star of The Sea Church, 28 Beach Road, Salisbury, Mass. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
