James L. Dalton

HAMPTON, N.H. -- James L. Dalton, 66, died Thursday at Seacoast Health Center.

Mr. Dalton was a Lawrence (Mass.) firefighter for Engine 9 for 25 years, retiring in 1993 at a lieutenant.

He was born and educated in Lawrence. He was a member of the Firemans Relief Inn, Lawrence Elks and American Legion of Seabrook.

During the Korean War, Mr. Dalton served in the Air Force.

He leaves wife of 23 years Dorothy (Smerdon) Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law Audrey and Robert Denis of North Andover, Mass., and Robin and William Johnson of Seabrook; sons Richard Dalton and his wife Julie of Andover, Mass., and Gerard Nassif of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters Winifred Ross of Haverhill, Mass., Marylou Pappalardo of Methuen, Mass., and Eileen Galleazzi of Raymond; brother George of Haverhill; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
