Henry E. Wazlaw

LAWRENCE -- Henry E. Wazlaw, 91, died Sunday at the Sutton Hill Nursing Home in North Andover.

He was born in Lawrence, educated in the Lawrence public schools and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Mr. Wazlaw was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with distinction. He received such citations as the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, and such ribbons as the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Bronze Service Star.

He worked in the Lawrence mills, the Boston Navy Ship Yard and he served as a Lawrence firefighter for 27 years until his retirement in 1975.

Mr. Wazlaw was a parishioner at St. Augustine's Church in Lawrence, and also a member of the Holy Name Society.

He leaves his loving wife of 50 years Mary (Lynch) Wazlaw, his sons John Wazlaw of Lawrence, Robert and his wife Pamela Walsh-Wazlaw of Methuen; daughter M. Terri (Wazlaw) and her husband Atty. Robert C. Autieri of Methuen; two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Autieri and two step-grandchildren Eric and Tyler Walsh all of Methuen; and a sister-in-law, Helen Wazlaw of Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, (DAV) Charitable Service Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike Cold Spring, Kentucky, 41076.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Augustine's Chapel, 128 Ames St., Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, in Lawrence.
