George T. Fairburn, 78

LAWRENCE -- George T. Fairburn, 78, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, died on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers. Born in Lawrence on April 29, 1927, he was the son of the late George F. and Gertrude E. (Fallon) Fairburn.
Mr. Fairburn was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1945. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Fairburn was a superintendent of the Lawrence Fire and Police Alarms and retired in 1988. He was a member of the Fireman's Relief Club and also a member of St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence.
Mr. Fairburn is survived by his wife, Mary D. (Perron) Fairburn; his children, George T. Jr. and his wife, Monica, of Derry, N.H., Donna Pehl and her husband, John, of Methuen, Linda White and her husband, Stephen, of East Kingston, N.H., Mary O'Brien and her husband, Dan, of Haverhill and Nancy Faranna and her husband, Vincent, of Methuen; his sister, Rita McLaughlin of Lawrence; 18 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fairburn was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Walsh and Claire Crompton.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.
